Have you heard of the Emergent Church? This is a new form of Christianity that is seeping into mainstream Evangelical Church’s. The emergent movement states we can’t really know truth and our personal experiences are just as important as objective truth.

Here is a snippet of what John MacArthur has to say on the new movement:

EMERGENT CHURCH: DR. JOHN MACARTHUR ON THE NEW CULT OF LIBERALISM
The bottom line in the [Emerging Church] movement is they believe that we aren’t even supposed to understand precisely what the Bible means…it is an attack on the clarity of Scripture…it is a denial that we can know what the Bible really says… They have embraced this “mystery” as if it’s true spirituality…it is at the foundation an unwillingness to accept the clear teaching of Scripture…
These people, like the liberals, deny the clear teaching of Scripture. And I’m convinced that the reason they deny it, is not because it can’t be understood, not because it’s unclear, but because they don’t like what it clearly says. And that takes you back to John 3; men love darkness rather than light.
The light is there, they hate the light, [and] they run from the light. The issue is not that Scripture’s not clear; it is crystal clear…the motive behind this whole Emerging Church thing –whether it’s a conscious or an unconscious motive – is discomfort over what the Bible really says…so the out is, “well it’s not clear.” This is just another way to set the Bible aside.

I find it interesting that it seems to always come back to John 3:19-20
19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
